[1906 SAN FRANCISCO EARTHQUAKE]: TWO FRAMED NEWSPAPERS, THE CALL-CHRONICLE-EXAMINER, APRIL 19, 1906, AND THE CALL, APRIL 22, 1906, The Call-Chronicle-Examiner. The Call-Chronicle-Examiner, April 19, 1906: "Earthquake and Fire; San Francisco in Ruins" and The Call, April 22, 1906: "Swirl of Fire Ends, And Hope Runs High". The 1906 earthquake so ravaged San Francisco that its three leading newspapers (the Call, the Chronicle, and the Examiner) lost the capacity to print the next day's paper. The editors teamed up and ferried across San Francisco Bay to print a joint edition in Oakland on the presses of the Oakland Tribune, hence the tri-part masthead. They went their separate ways in the days that followed. The Call-Chronicle-Examiner issue is an incredible rarity. - The Call-Chronicle-Examiner, 42 in. x 30 in. Both are framed.
